Diary - Trip Start Delayed (16th Mar to 18th Mar)
|
The day is here but unfortunately I have been a fool and have lost my driving licence. No not in a naughty way, simply left it somewhere I don’t know about. This has meant we are waiting for a replacement to be delivered, which we were hoping would turn up in time. The earliest departure will now be Wednesday, moving on each day that the licence does not arrive. |

Fear not we definitely will still be leaving and in fact the additional time has meant that some of the lose ends will be able to be sorted. And if this is the worst hurdle we have then I would be amazed. Thankfully we have not got anything else booked for the rest of the year so having to start a few days later does not make any difference. If we had another ferry lined up later in the trip then it would be more frustrating, as each day would condense everything and we would have to claw back the missing days. |

Since we have both been unemployed for almost two weeks prior to d-day, we have been working non stop on everything from moving house to changing prop shafts and anti-roll bars on the Land Rover. Many of the things that could and probably should have been done some time ago. However we were blessed with slightly warmer weather to be able to be out all day. Certainly one consideration if there was to be a next time is that leaving at the end of winter certainly hampers getting things done because of the cold and wet weather. |

It surprised both of us how many things we had left to do and all in a smaller space of time than first envisaged. When planning all the timings we hadn’t considered how much time would be spent visiting and seeing people. I even thought I would get away with not leaving work till much nearer the start date, now that would have been a mistake. However we are massively grateful for all those that have given up their time to see us before we leave, it means a lot to us both. |

Thank you all. |
