“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” - Mark Twain |

As we near the equator our lives and outlook have changed because we have followed our hearts and allowed our dream to become a reality. The journey so far has been incredible. From battling minus three sleeping conditions to energy zapping forty five degrees plus, we are still standing strong. Seeing the kindness of human nature from a poor soaking wet local man offering us his only two fish he caught from a freezing river; to not being allowed to buy food in a market because we are white. We have seen ancient ruins from the impressive Palmyra and Petra and ancient tribal people. See the difference between the extremely rich and extremely poor. We have been inspired and saddened, we have laughed and cried but for all the highs and lows this adventure will stay with us for ever, playing again and again in our minds reminding us that you only have one chance at life. |

We have put together a short list on our thoughts of the things we have brought or wished we had. |
Best things we have brought and could not live without: |
Awning, GPS, Tracks for Africa, Fridge, Ipod, Solar Shower and Baby wipes. |
Travelling through such different climates it is great to be able to have shade or have protection from the rain. The GPS and tracks for Africa just make travelling so much easy and cause less arguments when we get lost! The fridge needs no explanation. With long driving days of anything from eight to twelve hours it is great to have a long collection of different music. The solar shower is cheap at £5 but works brilliantly in warm climates and makes wild camping less smelly and with the limited showers and toilets baby wipes are just easy and effective |
Things that we wished we had more of: |
Books and of course money |
We did not bring enough and even though we exchange books with other travellers and at campsites it still does not quash our thrust for knowledge. |
Things we wish we had brought or had: |
Solar panel, smaller laptop with better battery, soft outdoor light. |
At the moment if we stay on a campsite for three or more days we have to start the engine to recharge the second battery so that we can still use the fridge and charge the laptop. A solar panel would help keep the second battery fully charged. We only have a very bright outdoor light and would be nice to have a slightly softer one. |

Items we have not used yet or wish we had left behind: |
Tent skirt, we have only used it twice in 154 days and it takes up a whole box on the roof |
