When we were still in the UK we were unable to find any insurance company to cover us for our trip for a reasonable cost, so we were only covered in Europe. We have since heard of a company that covered some other travellers we have met. The company is www.worldwideinsure.com, and they chose the super options. We have no personal experience of them but thought we would pass on the information. |

After that we have been buying third party insurance on the borders until Ethiopia where you can buy the Yellow card (Comesa), which covers most countries left on our trip apart from Mozambique, South Africa and Namibia. These we have to buy on the border again. |

We brought the insurance for roughly £110 and covers us third party. We chose to buy the insurance through the Ethiopian Insurance Company as it is the cheapest place to buy it. They have offices all over Ethiopia but you can only buy the extra Comesa section in Addis Ababa. The office is in walking distance of Wims Holland Place (campsite in the capital) The progress is easy and you need to take your V5 and Carnet de Passage with you. They will then make up the documents and provided you with a yellow card with the insurance details on and is what we show at the borders to show that we have insurance. |
