Preparation - The Home Left Behind

| We have decided to rent out our home while we are on our adventure and like everything to do with the trip there are so many choices and loads to sort out! |
| Things that we need to do/ get |
|
| 1) Permission from our mortgage company: We are required by our mortgage company to notify them of our intent to rent out our home and gain their permission! We are allowed to rent out our home for a maximum of 2 years before we have to change the mortgage to a buy to let mortgage. It costs £199 for the 2 year agreement. |

| 2) Land Lord Insurance: Obviously we want a home to come back to, so we will be getting land lord insurance as our current provide will not cover us for renting out our home. We are going to be using ukinsurance.net, as they provide £10,000 worth of contents cover as well as full buildings insurance for £207 for our home. Direct Line for Business is also worth a look at. |

| 3) Cover for our heating system: We have opted to have British Gas landlord cover for our home, as it is one less thing to worry about while we are away. We have chosen the plus service, which will give us the Gas Safely Inspection Certificate we need by law. But also will do a maintence inspection on our plumbing and drains, also on our electrics for £29 per month which we feel is worth it for the piece of mind factor. |

| 4) Personal details for parents: We have also made a folder for our parents, which hopefully will contain all the information they might need while we are off having the adventure of a life time. Plus if we lose our copies they will have back ups! |

| The folder contains: Copies of our passports; driving licences; international driving licence; personal fact sheet; country info including embassy list; vehicle details, i.e. copies of Carnet de Passage, MOT, V5 etc.. Address and phone numbers of friends and family; All our financial information, i.e. Bank Accounts and credit card information, encase we have issues while away, NOT for checking on how much we are spending!! Our travel insurance details, permission letters for them to be able to act on our behalf; Details of our mortgage, letter agent, home insurance and life insurance. List of all our medical supply and equipment lists. Details of our car and motorbike insurance. We are also leaving spare keys with them as well! |
